Yet another reincarnation

Since this was built it has had more owners than you could shake a stick at and now another business is trying it's hand at the former night club, bar, bistro etc, this time selling ice cream and sundry other deserts. I wish them well, at least it keeps painters and decorators in business tarting up a place for new occupants.

I was in town for a number of errands, food for Doreen while we're away - a variety of the choicest Marks and Specer's ready meals, some cheese and also cookies. For me it was a haircut. All this was going on while Susan was with Doreen on a marathon visit to the hospital for another blood test. They were there some 5 hours waiting for the test then waiting for the results. Good news though as the results all showed an improvement so she could go home and we could go on out trip to the Lakes and Shropshire (for the Shrewsbury Folk Festival)

Meanwhile, while they were at the hospital I was refereeing the first rugby match of the season in sweltering 30 degC heat. Fortuately, as the game was a pre-season "friendly" where both teams could give a run out to many players, we adopted a sensible approach to the game, three periods of 10 minutes in each half, with a water and substitution break after each 10 minutes. I'm glad I was only running around and not having to do all those things players have to.

Unfortunately, the showers at the end of the game were scalding hot. I dare say, come the depths of December and January the showers will barely be tepid - that's the way with showers. However, there was the option of an ice bath which once you were in, was suprisingly refreshing and more like the usual winter experience.

The day ended with its customary Saturday evening, drinks, dinner, ice cream, chocolate and a glass of whisky. All very pleasant.
