Day 6: Stornoway - Uig
Another grey start to the day, but the weather cleared as we explored Lewis and Harris. We took in a few of the Lewis sights, including the standing stones, which were so impressive (when we eventually found the main sight). The rain poured as we made our way into the more mountainous Harris; an immediately more impressive island. We paused for lunch in Tarbert and a look round the Harris Tweed shop and fabric store, attempting to avoid the midges as we shopped. Our ferry wasn't until 9pm, so we had hours to explore the tropical beaches of South-West Harris. More green seas, white sands and crystal clear waters and a perfect way to spend the afternoon. Our favourite was one with a plastic jetty; we paddled in the sea then tried to get as far as possible along the swaying walkway. We even had time for a little car-nap before we caught the boat for another very smooth journey. We arrived in the dark and it was lovely to see the changing evening light on the sea.
