Washed Up

Woke up early today feeling a little shipwrecked. Followed wise advice from Him Outdoors and dealt with it actively. Such discipline is the current focus.

The Teen and I were persuaded to head North East on a road trip for surf and perspective. Saltburn's odd charm and vicious wind absorbed our afternoon. The Teen added her own charm by playing the guitar owned by the man in the surf shop - too cool!

The sea made the surfers work hard to catch only a couple of waves.

The slightly unwelcoming austerity of Saltburn sits alongside striking creativity - Alice in Wonderland yarn bombs and the temporary sand sculptures. I chatted with the artist on the beach who claimed to be "working out his style."

A wonderful evening spent in a recommended Italian restaurant has topped off a special day. And tonight we are staying in our favourite purple stopover chain.
