The Soldier's Head

is a natural rock formation on the crag at the Slochd summit 1328' on the A9. Looking into things, such a formation is known as a mimetollith. There have been all sorts of wild stories about it having been carved by prisoners of war after World War 1. Rock climbers and others will realise the impossibility of such an idea! Everyone looks out for it when travelling, no hope of stopping on the road. To see it properly you have to use the cycle track or walk in, like me.
