Shining through to take on Mondays

A memory of yesterday, when we were all whipped by wind, burned by sun, ruddy cheeked like pirates and trying to get in the "don't be sad it's over, be happy it happened" zone. Why does it always come as a surprise to us to so enjoy being together, free from the distraction of being drawn into our separate worlds by TV, Phone or computer, but instead powered by the burgeoning, beautiful, wave thrashed big outdoors.

Back to Earth with a thump. It's Monday. There wasn't enough sun to catch a shadow today, just oppressive fog and rankling rain, creeping in, seeping in. The hours passed quickly at work. At some point a wee missive from a wylie but certainly not old birdie arrived, giving me the nod about a new opportunity. There is every chance it might turn out be an old opportunity in new clothing. I'm really not sure yet. In the meantime, back in family mode, I've booked some Tech Fest events for some of us. Marine marvelling at the Ocean Lab in Newburgh is on the cards, as is star gazing at the planetarium followed by some "awing" and "ahhhing" at what is being billed as the "ugly animals" event. There is, of course, no such thing as ugly animals, unless you count us humans. Yet while some of us are surely pretty rotten, there are also some - including a few that I'm lucky enough to know very well - that positively shine, inside and out. And some of them even throw an excellent shadow.
