Jellyfish
Went to the beach today. The kids had their bodyboards and were straight in the sea. Jaffa was chasing her ball and charging along the beach as usual. All was going swimmingly (pun intended) until both boys came running out claiming to have been stung by Jellyfish. My normal scepticism quickly gave way to concern because M was clearly becoming increasingly distressed. We got the kids changed as quickly as possible and drove into the nearest town to buy bottles of vinegar. Got some funny looks as we stood on the side of the road pouring malt vinegar over their legs. It seemed to help, and we were able to get them home in a relatively calm state. The car may never smell quite the same though!
At about 1am M complained it was really hurting again so we had to go through the whole vinegar thing again. I ended up ringing NHS Direct o see if there was something more effective we could do. Apparently vinegar is now largely discredited and it's mostly a case of washing carefully, anti-histamines and pain-killers.
In other news: A had the first match of the season today in his new team. We ran out 8-1 winners and played really well. A scored two goals (one a long range howitzer, which is becoming his trademark) and played well.
