Crab apples
It's been another rainy day, and I've been working from home. I popped outside during a rare dry interlude and took this snap of our Malus Sun Rival tree. When I bought and planted it back in April, it was because of it's promise of 'attractive pink buds that open to white flowers smothering pendulous branches'. I didn't get as far as reading that in the summer it also produces vivid red crab apples - as can be seen, they're coming on splendidly. Apparently they're not for eating raw, though. but are great for turning into jam. A project for the autumn perhaps?
