Nunnington Hall

We have been to North Yorkshire today visiting Nunnington Hall and making the most of the late summer. We were extremely lucky with the weathers it was lovely and sunny and just starting to cloud up as we left at 3.45 pm.

At one end of the garden there were lots of Pear trees well in fruit like these espaliered ones against the sunny wall of the house.

At the other end were Apple trees including the one in my extra which was also a 'wishing tree' bedecked with ribbons.

I saw more Peacock butterflies on one white Buddliea than I have seen all summer in our garden too!

There were deckchairs around the lawns and children's games all of which were being put to good use.

We had lunch and later tea and cake outside in a tea garden patrolled by a Peacock, we spotted the Peahen and a couple of youngsters too. Sadly we didn't see the otters that are seen regularly here in the River Rye, they had been spotted earlier this morning.

The house is worth a visit too - if you are interested you can see more here http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nunnington-hall/, particularly interesting is the collection of miniatures made by one person over 40 years and placed in purpose built room settings like a dolls house.

Can't believe next week will be September!
