Towards Eynhallow
Up to Birsay to look for more migrant birds but nothing out of the ordinary. A nice male hen harrier was on Costa Hill and a whimbrel flew over. A peregrine was being mobbed by fulmars over the cliffs. Quite a few wheatears about but much of the walk from the hill to Northside was in fog so not much chance of seeing anything. It was clearer from there to the Palace- more wheatears, bonxies etc. On the shore of the Bay of Birsay were turnstones, dunlin, ringed plover, sanderlings and knot.
