Ascending to High Street above Hayeswater

A most spectacular day in the Lakes on High Street. Ascended from Hartsop to The Knot, then Kidsty Pike, High Street and Thornthwaite Crag before a very steep initial descent via Thornthwaite Cove into Pasture Bottom and so back to Hartsop.

Great visibility as you can see from this shot looking west over the Helvellyn range and also north towards Solway Firth and Galloway. And east to Hawswater and Pennines from the top of Kidsty Pike. It was while on the summit of Kidsty that we saw two mountain bikers peddling their way across theHigh Street ridge.

A very welcome cup of tea back at the hotel, a long wallow in a deep hot bath and an enjoyable evening eating and drinking rounded off an excellent day. Didn't need much rocking to get to sleep.
