Harvest time on the Yorkshire Wolds

Rich in colour, and as always the farmers will be hoping that August's heavy rains don't flatten the crop and reduce the yield, though with modern machinery, this isn't the major problem it used to be when I was a child.
Even now in old age the sight of a field like this brightens my day, and brings memories back of Harvest Festivals at School and in the villages, though back then they usually took place at the end of September.
Food was rationed back then and groups from school would bike or walk out to the farms to help with the harvest and in return the farmer's wives would give us a meal that was a gourmet feast  compared to the food we got on rations at home,  oh yes! wonderful days indeed!
