Capturing my Journey

Bull in... a boat

Loved the perspective on this photo as it looks like Glen is in the boat. Also there are our indian runner ducks in the foreground.

Today didn't quite go to plan although with having a farm that goes without saying really. I took the dogs on a long morning walk and came across our bull Glen flirting with our heifers (young female cows) through the deer fence. Its only 2 more days until he is meant to come in from the cows anyway and we are gathering that day for another farmer so since there was trouble afoot today was as good as any to bring him home. So I walked back home with the dogs. We brought in Glens bullock friend and the cow and calf that had been living with him and put them in the shed. Then headed out on the long walk to get the cattle in. Because of course they were at the furthest reaches of their hill. May I add that is was pouring with rain also! When we got them into the final field before the yard the horse thought it would be fun to help too. Thankfully they didn't get too involved. For those who are new to my journal I do not like working with cattle, theres a reason Im a shepherdess! Might I also also add that my morning routine is cup of tea then walk dogs then second cup of tea and breakfast then I can function normally. Well today I was only running on my first cuppa and it took a good few hours to get the cattle in and sorted and back to their hill. And just to top it off the cows were having hierarchy fights due to a cow going back in with them which caused one of their calves to jump the fence in fright into a tree plantation. Gate for the plantation of course was way at the other end. So whilst husband was making sure Glen didn't escape and was calming down I had to walk all the cattle to the other end to draw the damn calf out. Anyway mission complete and on my last legs at 2 pm feeling rather hangry we finished phew.

My plan for today you ask, well my muscles were very sore from gravel raking and cleaning so I thought the rain meant it would be a great day to get on with my diploma. Well I have managed an hour on it but my brain is not cooperating.

Extra is close up of Glen looking like he is in the boat.

18c rain in the morning sun once we finished the cattle work maybe the weather reflected my mood.
