Offertory Bags
Today's Priory Museum photo is a nineteenth century collection of offertory bags. Different ones were used for taking up the collection in different parts of the church. I think they're actually better than the modern plates where everyone can see what you put in. Not to mention, if you're taking up the collection using a plate (which I do in my church) notes can easily fall off and flutter to the floor.
