Milestone
I do not generally have any particular affinity with motorway service areas, but I regarded my visit today as something of a milestone.
My journey of around 77 miles was the first of any length since suffering a potentially dangerous DVT three months ago.
The ambulatory care people reckoned it was probably triggered by a nine hour drive to the Scottish Borders from the south coast some little while before, followed by a similarly frustrating drive back on a motorway littered with road works, and advised me not to drive any distance for two to three months.
So while venturing on to the motorway today we did make a point of stopping at the service station for coffee, a snack and a walk round.
I don't think I am necessarily going to fall in love with motorway service areas, but it did perhaps re-Inforce in my own mind their value and purpose as providing a rest point on a journey, even though today's trip was relatively short.
