Velvet butterfly weed

Gaura parviflora, also known as small flowered gaura, occurs along roadsides, in pastures and waste areas nearly throughout Kansas. It is a straggley plant that can grow up to nine feet tall.
In the extra is the whole plant. It isn't easy to photograph because it is so "spacey"! Also another shot of the inflorescence.
