Mediterranean musings

Hot stuff

What turned out to be a quiet supper a deux, turned into a bit of a piss-up a six. First our Irish friends joined us then Serge et Monique from Dunkerque.
The village has a bit of a burn up twice during the season where the fishermen bring in loads of sardines and grill them over open fires in the main square. 5 euros buys you a plate of sardines & a plastic cup of vin rose.
You have to queue for the sardines so while you wait might have a glass or 2 of either bring your own, or in our case, the odd carafe of house wine from a friendly resto.
So, no names no pack drill, as us military types say....    ( I was once in the  Rothwell Lifeboys) .. but we had 5 litres. I now know how One Direction got their name. Because like our wine, it all went in One Direction. The Emerald Isle !!!
But, as we seventy year olds say, "your only young once". Hic!
