Palmyra Square.

Took my aching feet for a brief detour round Palmyra square to look at the war memorials before staggering home after a long week.
The most splendid one is in memory of the men of the Lancashire Regiment lost in the Boer war.
So many young men who may never have been further than Manchester before the war ended their lives at the far end of another continent.
A really lonely thought.
Sadly still happening several generations later.
