Nigella seed head

I think the seed head is so different to the Nigella bloom. The bloom appears so delicate – it does have these tentacles but they are green and seem very insignificant and the seed head on the other hand looks much more robust and the tentacles seem more significant even give it a bit of an alien look. What it does hold however is the hope of next year’s blooms. The extra image today is one of the last Hollyhocks still in bloom and the bees are still visiting on a regular basis.
