Yak milking
Not my photo, but my husband's!
He has been working on a project in Western China, on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, at about 3,600 metres (close to 12,000ft). There are challenges in farming at this altitude.
Here the Tibetan lady has been hand milking yaks, her twice daily routine.
In the extra photo the yaks are tied up for milking, each one still with its calf, which has to suckle in order to start the milking process. In the background are the tents used as living quarters by farmers in the very short summer.
