Lunching at Fodder
Some much needed heavy rain overnight, cleared to yield a bright, slightly breezy day.
I decided that I had to drive to the Great Yorkshire Show offices in Harrogate today, as otherwise, I would not have the opportunity to collect my two finalist photos from the Great Yorkshire Show Woodland photo competition held during the show in July. I had no idea which two of the seven that I had submitted had been selected.
Two hours to get there, and fortunately no holdups, although roadworks slowed the speed I could have made.
Much to my surprise, the photos had been printed at mural display size, at 100 cm x 70 cm. A bit too big for display at home.
As it was lunch time, I stopped at Fodder, the cafe next door which specialises in local Yorkshire produce. Joy of joys, they had a dedicated gluten free menu. A local company, Voakes, supplies the cafe with gluten free pies, quiche and freshly made bread. I had a splendid carrot and coriander soup with GF egg and cress sandwich. I also bought several GF loaves and bagels which had been reduced in price since a fresh batch was expected the next day.
The photo shows the view from the terrace over the showground.
Then the drive back home. Had to stop at Woolley Edge service area to take some coffee on board to keep me awake. I was tight for time for a wedding meeting with Hayley and went directly to Castle Donington. I'd been there less than five minutes when she rang the hotel to say the meeting was actually at her studio in East Leake.
Finally got home around 8.30 pm.
The photos will go to St Botolph's Parish Hall for display.
