Marjorie's ramblings

Des res - any offers?

Another day, another walk.

Today Alistair and I walked the 7 miles from Bewcastle to Birdoswald. We are both leading walks that include this route, although his goes on for another 7 miles after Birdoswald.

It was wild and windy today, especially on the moor tops. The route is quite a hard one, with lots of bog and tussocks to contend with. The views were great.

High House is on our route. I suspect it will not be restored because it stands on a remote site and will suffer a lot from bad weather.

By late lunchtime we were satisfied that we both knew the route much better than before.

I called to see the Horns at Slack House Farm for a cup of tea and was so glad I did. They run an organic farm with Ayrshire cows and make excellent cheese. I did not know that Diane's mother died in May or that Diane has been very ill herself. It was good to drink tea (organic) with  milk (unpasteurised) and have a long natter.

It's so good to be out and walking again.
