The Gull Next Door
High winds again, not much to see today. The gulls were hunkering down on the dock, resting and preening - made me think how little attention I pay them - I take them utterly for granted. I haven't photographed a gull since I left Boston. Yet they are remarkable birds, as at home on our little local lake here in northwest Wisconsin as they are on the ocean. This one will leave us in the wintertime - he may only go as far as Lake Michegan or he may go all the way to Mexico (I know where I would choose). And what would a trip to the seaside be like without the evocative cry of the gull? I will try to remember to bring them some bread next time.
