Breaking Rocks

The tiniest of things turn mountains into dust.  This chunk of granite mountainside is covered in and even invaded by the world around it--water, wind, temperature swings, plants, and animals.  In short order, geologically speaking, it will be nothing but its elemental parts.  (This image makes my eyes go all wonky with it's sharp blur of tiny edges, and my brain itch as I consider the patience of lichens and relative softness of hard rocks.)
