Tower with a view.

Our last day of cycling in South Bohemia. The temperature got up to 32 phew! We decided to do a short ride and caught the 9 o'clock ferry. Then started a long climb up to Svaty Tomas 300 metres higher than the ferry. Wow it was hard but we made it. Here was the ruins of Castle Vitkouv. At 1053m it was the highest watch tower castle in Bohemia. The views were amazing. We saw Frymburk, lake Lipno, and the Alps. It was stunning.

Then started the decent on gravelly tracks We crossed the border into Austria, where there was the remnants of the border crossing. More climbing then a final steep decent back down to the lake. Lunch in Lipno, then cycled home for a cooling swim.

Now to get packed and go to the farewell party.

To put it in perspective, we live at 23 m above sea level, we are camped at 740 m, to day climbed 880m, the most we have climbed in a day is 1500m.
