Phew! I've managed to......

......prune the lavenders down before the end of August! We had lovely sun this morning, coffee outside etc but....now it's grey and gloomy and wet again but I did it!

They'll look ghastly for about 6 weeks and then all the little shoots will grow bit and that's how it should remain for the winter. These plants are about 6/7 years old and I've done this each year and they keep coming back, bless them!

Can any of you clever gardeners tell me what the plant on the left is? I rescued it and it's repaid me by flowering beautifully but I've no idea what it is.
