Breathing
And... Breathe in...
After the effects of pneumonia and plueral inflammation for the last few weeks today I can take a deep breathe without pain and without drugs, the thipngs you take for granted.
No longer an infection risk I tripped to the big hospital in Leeds to spend a few hours in the company of E. It now seems another time and place since I sat on the same ward after his surgery. 19 years old and chemo 'd and radiotherapied to the edge since, then this weeks scan brought the best news, but the effects of treatment are trying patience longer than planned. Still whenever staff entry the room to tweak and probe he alwayd says thank you.
Finding his speech again, we were able to share our views on Wales chances in the Rugby world cup, we watched Hello, Hello, we shared silence of the kind that needs the company of the other. (E you are my hero).
Now sat in the coffee bar before the train home, taking photos of the street thinking how precious it is that we have the next breath.
