Another Kea

I'm making the most of photographing the Kea, so I apologise if you are sick of seeing them.  I don't know how long they will be around - and it's great to be able to photograph a NZ native so close to home.

The Kea usually start flying in between 4pm and 5.30pm, although today they were a bit later.  We watched them from the cowshed, flying above us and chasing a Wood Pigeon away.  There were about 10 Kea, so it was a bit unfair on the poor Wood Pigeon.

Kea have a very distinctive cry.  Our visitors sat in our trees, yelling out to other Kea from our neighbors property.  They would then flock to the same tree and 'talk' to each other.  I could stand watching them for ages - a real time waster!
