My Magic Kingdom

A rather busy Father's Day

Daughter T was on the stage again. Luckily no mishaps like last time. She amazes me with her confidence and natural ability to move across this stage as if she has been doing it for years!

I knew we had a busy agenda today so I started early. First I did laundry, preparing school clothes for the week. Then I prepared a stew (as a gift for Mr G) and popped it into the slow cooker. I boiled eggs for breakfast and got everybody energised for their chore of the day: tidying-up their cupboards!

We enjoyed a warm stew for lunch on a very cold and miserable day. Then off we went through to Sandton for Ts fashion show.

Lastly we went to my father-in-law to celebrate Father's Day. It was a lovely family dinner with us all together again. Last gathering was Mother's Day and now we have decided to make it a monthly thing! We were also joined by cousins F and D this time. We ate fried fish, lochen pudding, tuna pasta, beetroot salad and rye bread. Followed by phyllo pastry chocolate cigars and dutch apple cake.

I usually don't like being out on a Sunday evening. I like to have an early night and be ready for the new week. But it turned out that we could only get together for supper. The trouble is that we are an hours drive from home. By 8pm I was already getting ready to leave but we only got going around nine. Half way home we passed some people stuck on the side of the road. It was so dark and cold that we decided to stop and offer assistance.

Mr G and son K tried their best to get them going, I even lost a pair of stockings because they needed a temporary fan belt. We had to use jumper cables to get them started several times and then they only moved a few metres forward each time.

Eventually when we had got them to a safer area to leave the car, we told the driver to come with us to the nearest garage to buy a new fanbelt. We travelled another 10 kms to the garage to find out they had no fan belts. They phoned ahead to the next garage to check if they had stock. Mr G then took the children and I home first as it was nearly midnight by then.

Mr G and the driver went to the garage to buy the fanbelt and returned to the car. He got home an hour later and we went to sleep about 1:30am. And then my alarm went off at 5:15am!
