One for Sorrow .......
' One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for a girl
And four for a boy
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven for a secret
Never to be told'
Wondered if this rhyme- pertaining to how many magpies you see at once -is a world wide one or just another British eccentricity
Given that some people say the rhyme then break the ' ring' of the thumb and pinky pressed together , others ' salute' birds !
As I said ' eccentric' ?
