Camper Van Adventures
Well we picked up the camper van and I then had the terror of driving it home. I say terror because it has been 10 years since I have driven a manual car. Although people say it is like riding a bike and you never forget I certainly forgot when it came to the biggest hill start ever. It inched and bumped its way forward and back and I thought it would be a right off along with the cars behind. Anyway, we made it.
We set off for our first adventure the next day. We decided not to be too ambitious and headed for Rye in East Sussex. We stopped first at a local farm shop, some 5 miles from home and decided to stop for a snack and to give the dogs a run. Bought the picnic from the farm, unclipped the table and thought we were on holiday.
Sadly, the dogs don't like it at all. There is just too much room for them to be thrown about and we certainly have to find a solution for them. Will try their beds and a harness. in future.
Next stop was some woods to give the dogs another run. Unfortunately, despite, despatching husband to watch the roof as I inched my way in, the awning sustained its first scratch as the barrier was TOO low. No blame of course. The woods were also very, very muddy so the van got its first and most probably not the last dog christening.
Rye was lovely, as was the deserted field we found to have our supper. Watching the sun set was magical, so here is to the first of many adventures.
