Thinking more visually

Carnethy Hill

Yay! The sun has reappeared!

Time to head for a walk in the Pentlands, with a few caches thrown in. I headed for the southern ridge, parking at Flotterstone and taking the ridge path up to Turnhouse Hill. A cache at the stream near the main path seems to have been washed away but there was a cache to be found at the top of Turnhouse Hill.

Next stop was Carnethy Hill, from where this photo was taken. It's the second highest peak in the Pentlands, and you can see Arthur's Seat in central Edinburgh poking up in the far distance (view large). The views were fantastic, but the cache was pretty far from the main path and quite a scramble.

After this it was time to come back down to the valley at the top of Loganlea Reservoir and follow the road back down. I did try to find one more cache which involved scrambling up a pretty sheer cliff face (good leg strength workout), but couldn't find it :-(

Back to the car a bit later than I'd expected, but a beautiful day (and sunburn!) in the hills. The girls will finish school next week, so not much chance for more walks :-(
