Little Grebe

We had our first "proper" visit to Gosforth Park Nature Reserve this afternoon, following our joining of the local Natural History Society last month (see here).

We rather liked this chap (or chapess?); according to our bird book this is an adult in summer colours.

Best viewed large.

I suspect I'll be spending many happy hours in the Reserve over the forthcoming months. I also think I can "feel a longer telephoto lens coming on" - I had to crop this shot more than I wanted!   :)
