Today's the day ............................. to déjeuner sur l'herbe


What a joy to have les petits-enfants - Clara, Simon and Arthur join us for the day.

Their parents had to go back to work today, but school for them doesn't begin until tomorrow.  So they played ping pong, petanque and other games - but they also made themselves very useful in the kitchen.  The boys quickly whipped up some mouth-watering chocolate soufflés that we had for dessert.  Lunch was a three-course meal - eaten outside of course - and every mouthful was delicious.

We're going to miss all this when we depart for home tomorrow - the ripe figs eaten straight from the tree, the long, leisurely meals with plenty of discussion, the strolls through the country lanes, the warmth of the sun, the butterflies - and much more.

We get to love this part of France more and more every time we come here ................................
