Feeding frenzy
We were woken by the sounds of hens pecking around outside. The site is very laid back and quirky. The hens roam freely around and I suppose they find a lot of crumbs. We have discovered a great delicatessen just across the road which specialises in local produce, fine butchery, a big cheese counter and an artisan bakery. We bought Fougasse bread (baked with ham and cheese), a cow cheese that we had never seen before that looked like Mozzarella, but was softer and creamier, and a terrine of fritons de canard with a little foie gras in the centre. We washed it down with a Gaillac red. Now we can hardly move!
