Elderflower

Elder is a very useful bush.
You can make a beautiful wine from both the flowers and the berries, a very refreshing cordial (non-alcoholic) from the flowers also.
In fact a doctor in the 18th century used to raise his hat everytime he passed a bush because of the health giving properties of the berries. Sometimes described as the Englishman's grape.
I still make very drinkable wine from both the flowers and berries. You just have to be a bit selective when picking the flowers, they can get a bit 'caty'.
