Cardington Cross

which stood at the centre of where three roads met leading to Bedford, St Neots and Cardington.
It was erected by William Henry Whitbread in 1837

I remember the junction coming out of Cardington very well before the bypass was built, in my early driving days back in and out of work, although I must say I am hazy on the date when that happened. The notice board by the cross says 1996 the Bedford southern bypass was put into service. So I guess it was around that time.
