TEA FOR TWO . . . OR THREE

Meet Lady Danby – or her statue - and Tony my cycling partner, who planned a grand 14 mile cycle route for today. The ride ended near to the Moors National Park Visitor Centre, Danby in North Yorkshire. As there just happened to be a café, we also had time for tea and a scone - or two - hehe !

The Moors centre opened in 1976 and was formerly a shooting lodge belonging to the Danby Estate – the Dawnay family.

The buildings grew from a 17th Century farmhouse, into a smart shooting lodge in the 18th century. Dawnay Lodge was used by the Dawnay family and guests, to enjoy grouse shooting parties across the moors. Plenty of grouse on show today - and no guns.
