Wax Eyes (or Silver Eyes)
Another wet morning, so nothing for it but to photograph the wax eyes feeding on an apple on my deck. They are getting amazingly tame and I can get very close now - this was from about 2 metres and hand held.
If you like wax eyes, take a look at the extras. The last extra has the bird with his tongue out and a tiny piece of apple on the end. Sadly, that one wasn't as sharp.
It must be just about time for the wax eyes to depart - they are having a feeding frenzy at the moment - into the nectar, fat and fruit hard. Perhaps they are building up condition before nesting.
