The RED-TAIL and the HUMMINGBIRD
This summer with Red-tailed Hawks nesting near our house, we were treated with daily fly-overs by the parents. Sometimes with Crows in hot pursuit.
Perhaps trying to keep the hawks away from their own nest.
Now a young Red-tail hangs-out on a Lodgepole Pine behind our house.
At dinner time he serenades us with his high-pitched, hoarse, screaming whistle,
Surprisingly, this Hummingbird hangs around, landing on nearby branches, and diving in for a closer look at the great big bird.
