The end of summer

Last year summer lingered on into September, but today was decidedly autumnal. Even when the sun was shining, there was that nip in the air that heralds the changing season. And it was Ben's first day at college - the end of relaxed mornings and late nights. He managed to be up and ready in good time to catch the coach, which leaves just after half past seven from Thorpe Hall and he arrived home at ten to six - a long day, especially when he hadn't manged to get much sleep last night. But he survived the induction, which involved lots of tedious tours and health and safety sessions. Tomorrow he finishes just after two, so not quite such a long day...
