Bar Duero
Most of the local places are opening up again after the August holidays, including Bar Duero here. It's just 5 mins from our front door and run by this Galician man and his wife. Most Spanish families go back to 'their village' in summer and they're no exception. We talked to him tonight and he spoke passionately about returning there and enjoying a big street dinner with many of his childhood friends, quite a few like him who now live in Barcelona but they don't have much time to see each other during the year. He said that he and his wife open the car windows when they're getting to close to arriving in their villages and enjoy all the familiar countryside smells, the names of which he then listed. I only caught and understood the Spanish word for 'rosemary'!
We had a tomato and onion salad, patatas bravas and fried fresh calamares. Simple and delicious.
