A Disruptive Influence

Every ruddy year this day rolls around to remind me just how bad i am at sewing and just how good i am at swearing and stabbing myself with a needle.

When i was a girl needlework was a compulsory lesson at school and an essential accomplishment for any well rounded young woman. I was not a well rounded young woman.

Not only that, I was a "Disruptive Influence". My attempts to sew a cuddly, lavender filled rabbit wearing a flowery dress brought my needlework teacher to her knees and i was handed the ultimate shameful punishment of being sent to do metalwork with the boys.

I had the last laugh though - I was criminally bad at metalwork too.
