Coincidence?

I was woken at 07:20 this morning by the postman delivering one of these - have been wanting one for a while and decided to treat myself. Now normally I'm not superstitious (my lucky number is 13 and I often actively walk under ladders!) so I put the umbrella up and had a wee shot.

Then I went off to do my good deed for the day - acting as voluntary IT support person for the Edinburgh Libraries Fair
Edinburgh University is hosting the event this year so I said I'd help out making sure everyone got up and running with their laptops so they could run their presentations on all things bibliographic.
All went reasonably well apart from a small technical hitch with one laptop (belonging to a man who assumed that all IT people are men and asked to see the 'network man' then was more than slightly patronising when I arrived! - goes with the territory being a woman in IT unfortunately) but I got his laptop up and running in the end so all was well.

Was driving home afterwards when I noticed the subject of my blip. Not sure if you can see but there's a great crack in the right side of my engagement ring I definitely didn't bang, smash or break it and I always take it off when guddling about with pcs so not sure how this has occurred (possibly a weakness there all along I guess)
Anyway - what I am now wondering is...

does putting up an umbrella indoors and raising it over your head really bring bad luck?!
I suspect it might!!!
