Business & Pleasure
That looks more business than pleasure
but there must be pleasure to be had
from wading through water
with those big nets. I did see a lad,
yesterday, crabbing off the jetty
(a popular pastime in the holidays
with kids of all ages) but he
wasn’t having much luck. My wife says
it can’t be good for the crabs
being hauled out of the sea all summer
and kept in buckets for an hour
or more before mums and/or dads
ensure they’re returned to their natural
habitat. But, to get back to those chaps
– they’re gathering in the crops,
harvesting the seabed, hoping that all
their hard work will pay off. I think that money
might be made, that cash might be paid.
I suppose it depends just how many
of whatever they’re after are counted out, weighed,
a price offered, and whether it’s a fair trade.
