Nuisance Flower Friday!
The very kind ladies in our morning walking group agreed to a walk today to take in a small path we missed on our big pathwatch walk on Wednesday.
We started at Wilsden Station, which no longer exists, to walk across the fields to Hewenden Brow and along the top of Goit Stock woods to take this path which ascends the fields up to Bents Lane. Continuing to the top of the hill we then walked along the back of the hamlet of Harecroft. You can see the hill and Harecroft in my extra.
Crossing the road we looped around and back through the fields to where we parked the cars. This route is known for difficult to open gates and is very steep but the problem today came in the form of flowers! Himalayan Balsam!
Not indigenous and a thorough nuisance everywhere even if the flower is quite pretty.
We could see the gate but nothing beyond. Because it had been quite well trodden down it was very slippery and sloping downhill. Emerging at the other side and barely keeping her balance is Corinthian Column!
I think there will be a few more of these blips today!
Posting early as I have to go up to church and help set up a slide show for this evening. I have been asked to show some pictures from our last year's holiday in the U.S. and Canada, exactly a year ago. Two other people are showing pictures of trips to Madagascar and Vietnam and Cambodia.
I'd rather just be in the audience but it is raising money so mustn't complain.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and thank you ladies for your company this morning on my little task.
