Climbing in the mist

An interesting day's climbing in the Pyrenees. Here we are at the top of the first of the day's cols.

The cloud was quite low, so it was strangely still, damp and cold. Fortunately there were only a few brief minutes of rain but it did mean that we missed out on the tremendous views.

After a great descent from the Col de Port we managed to find a restaurant that was still open and happy to serve us. The first place we tried were apparently outraged at customers who wanted lunch at 2:05pm. Fortified by a hearty warming cassoulet we pushed on for the return before the forecast rain and thunder storms arrived.

Tomorrow is a rest day before Sunday's event so just a gentle spin to keep the legs working.
