Silver Y
I finally got to run my moth trap again last night and, despite the low temperature, I found quite a few moths in it this morning. I was pleased to see my first Centre-barred Sallow of the year amongst the many different sorts of Yellow Underwing. It was also nice to get a close look at this Silver Y, a moth I'm so used to seeing flitting around grassland and scrub with its wings whirring away. The cold morning meant it posed quite happily for this portrait. Here you see the upside-down Y that gives it its name.
