Like so many Star Wars acolytes across the world, I have indulged in the vast Disney-fuelled marketing extravaganza for The Force Awakens by purchasing the action figure of a First Order Stormtrooper, JJ Abrams' interpretation of the classic armour design, now thirty-eight years old.

The shop assistant asked if I wanted a gift receipt for my purchase, which I thought was funny.

"Hell no, this is for me!"
