Rat nest

This box contains most of the contents of a rat nest found behind the dashboard of my 4WD. Brendan the mechanic is also holding a filthy cabin air filter. Yesterday morning when I started the vehicle there was a loud engine knock and lots of black smoke. The problem was sudden, the vehicle was ok when I parked it two days before. Off it went to the Toyota workshop on the back of a truck. Turns out a rat had taken up residence behind the dashboard and had chewed through some cables causing a short circuit that dumped fuel into the motor when it was running. The rat was still in the vehicle when the mechanics pulled the covers off. I should have been suspicious because there has been a bad smell for 6 months or so that I thought was caused by mouldy something or other, but I couldn't find the problem. I didn't think of rodents. This @#*& rat has been chauffeured all over including a couple of holidays to the Flinders Ranges. No more! It cost me $500 to repair so its war on rodents around here.
