A Splendid Afternoon!

A splendid afternoon indeed...a proper afternoon tea spent with very dear friends at The Inn at Woburn.  Sparkling wine, pots of tea and a giant version of one of those multi-layer cake stands, which we slowly worked our way up from the bottom layer of selected finger sandwiches (crust-less of course), through various varieties of cakes, scones with jam and clotted cream up to delicate cakes, tarts and meringues at the top, followed by more tea, lots of laughter and interesting conversation... all lasting several hours while we relaxed in squashy sofas...absolutely perfect!
